Youth Chair Will Petrovic speaking about Internet safety to a group of parents.

Net Literacy is a student-managed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes youth philanthropy through a series of community outreach programs. The company's mission is to empower students to increase computer access by increasing computer access, computer and Internet literacy, and Internet safety awareness programs. At the same time, Net Literacy student volunteers learn life skills, job skills, and gain an opportunity to give back to their community. Net Literacy has four core programs – Community Connects, Senior Connects, Computer Connects, and Safe Connects.

Community Connects is one of the four core Net Literacy programs. Students participating his program have built or provided computers for hundreds of computer labs to increase computer access to the underserved. Community Connects provides a computer or computer lab to HUD and Section 8 apartment with 50 or more dwelling units, community centers, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, public libraries, and schools. In 2008 alone, thousands of computers have impacted tens of thousands of individuals, and especially youths on the wrong side of the digital divide. Computer, Internet, and Internet safety training is taught to those individuals receiving access to computers and the Internet. Students also use technology to impact the community, by building community portals and websites to help other nonprofits without an online presence.

Community Connects is the power of student volunteers helping youths.
